Indicații

Se utilizează pentru tratamentul reacțiilor alergice severe care nu răspund la tratamentul standard, inclusiv astmul alergic, alergiiile pielii și rinita alergică. Tratează și afecțiuni dermatologice grave cum ar fi pemfigusul și sindromul Stevens-Johnson. Poate fi utilizat pentru insuficiență adrenococticală atunci când hidrocortizonul sau cortizonul nu sunt disponibili.

Efecte secundare

Dozare

Doza inițială variază de la 0,75 mg la 9 mg zilnic în funcție de afecțiunea tratată. Medicul dumneavoastră vă va ajusta doza în funcție de cât de bine răspundeți. După ce se observă îmbunătățire, doza este redusă treptat la cea mai mică cantitate care menține un control bun. Dozele trebuie individualizate în funcție de starea specifică și răspunsul la tratament.

Mecanism de acțiune

Dexametazonul este un corticosteroid care reduce inflamația prin blocarea mai multor mesageri chimici (citokine) care cauzeaza umflare, scurgeri de lichid și mișcarea celulelor inflamatorii. Acest efect anti-inflamator puternic ajută la controlul diferitelor condiții în întregul corp.

Sarcină și alăptare

Corticosteroizii, cum ar fi dexametazonul, traversează placenta și pot afecta dezvoltarea fetală. Utilizarea în timpul sarcinii poate crește riscul de palat despicat, creștere fetală redusă și greutate la naștere mai mică. În studiile pe animale, corticosteroizii au provocat malformații congenitale și alte probleme de dezvoltare. Utilizați doar dacă beneficiile depășesc clar riscurile pentru fetus.

Farmacocinetica

După luarea dexametazonului pe cale orală, medicamentul este absorbit și ajunge la niveluri maxime în sânge în aproximativ 1 oră. Doza afectează proporțional concentrațiile în sânge—dozele mai mari produc niveluri mai mari. Medicamentul rămâne în corpul dumneavoastră pentru o perioadă considerabilă, permițând dozarea o dată pe zi în majoritatea cazurilor.
